Original telegram of ex boxing world champion Max Schmelding addressed to the German boxer and silver medallist at the Olympic Games 1936 Richard Vogt on occasion the 75th birthday of Vogt. 21 x 12 cm. Plus a black-and-white press photo of Vogt and his freind Max Schmeling, ca. 1980 24 x 18 cm. From the estate of Richard Vogt. Sold by Vogt's family. Richard Vogt (1913-1988) who was known as "Riedel" Vogt won the Olympic silver medal after losing the light heavyweigh final fight against Roger Michelot. Vogt was German light heavyweigh champion three times. In 1942 he lost the fight for the European Champion against Luigi Musina by points. In 1948, he won against former heavyweight world champion Max Schmeling in Schmeling's last fight in front of 20.000 spectators in Berlin. After this fight, Vogt fought another 15 fights and withdrew from boxing in 1952.
